"Help me," she said, "I'm melting...."
I was 8 years old , watching my mother melt into the floor until there was nothing left but her hat.
The "floor" was the stage of the Sunland-Tujunga Curtain Raisers in Los Angeles, California, and my mother was doing a damned fine job being the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz.
Growing up in Los Angeles watching my parents perform in little theater productions instilled in me a lifelong love and appreciation of the creative power of theater and film.
I worked as associate producer on the award -winning documentary Hope in Hard Times, and have written, directed and performed for theatrical performances and video, including a one woman performance at San Francisco's The Marsh, and a video treatment of Fly Kids for Carter-Herrera
Productions.
I've also assisted in other film and video productions as Spanish interpreter, assistant director and casting director.
As a teacher of drama and improvisation in both Peru and San Francisco, I have been endlessly amazed by what I have learned from my own students, and have been delighted to see them bring forth their own talent and let it shine.
